Pepper Chicken Chettinad- Meal

A pan fried chicken dish from the Chettinad region in Tamil Nadu (South India), this chicken dish is made with freshly ground spices, curry leaves and lots of crushed black pepper. It’s packed with strong flavors & is fiery, but not in a brow sweating, nose sniffling sort of a way!

Served with:

  • Lemon Rice – A South-Indian classic, rice tempered with spices like mustard seeds, turmeric, curry leaves & roasted peanuts & dals for crunch, finished off with bright lemon juice for a little tang.
  • Cabbage Poriyal- Cabbage stir fried with crunchy lentils, mustard seeds, curry leaves and fresh coconut. (Poriyalis a Tamil word which means a fried or sautéed vegetable dish)
  • Tomato Pappu (Red-Lentil Dal) – Dal is known as “pappu”  telugu, the language of Andhra Pradesh. South-Indian style dal is usually soupier and has a lighter & simpler tempering than its North-Indian counterparts. This red lentil version is cooked with tomatoes and tempered simply with a few dry chilies, mustard seeds and curry leaves.
